Wellness retreats

A week in a single valley, with the kingdom's healers, cooks and teachers at your side.

Sometimes the right journey is not a journey at all. A wellness retreat settles you in one place, a lodge in the Haa or Phobjikha valley, and lets the days arrange themselves around you: yoga at dawn, a mindful walk, a hot stone bath, an early night. Nothing is scheduled that cannot be moved.

The retreat lodges we work with bring together a yoga teacher, a traditional physician, a meditation guide and a kitchen cooking from the valley's own gardens. Rooms look onto forest or fields, and the loudest sound at night is the river.

Retreats work beautifully as the last chapter of a longer journey, after the dzongs and the festival, or on their own for travellers who already know what they are looking for. We tailor the programme to you after a long conversation about why you are coming.

The ritual

How it unfolds.

  1. 01

Dawn yoga on a terrace facing the valley, followed by a slow breakfast.

  2. 02

A guided walk or meditation in the late morning, then a traditional medicine consultation.

  3. 03

An afternoon of nothing: reading, resting, a massage if you wish.

  4. 04

A hot stone bath at dusk and dinner from the garden by the stove.
